Crear un nuevo dispositivo en Cacti
A continuación vamos a comentar como crear un nuevo dispositivo en Cacti.
Lo primero que debemos tener claro es como importar un nuevo template. Esto se ha explicado en este otro artículo:
Una vez importado el template accedemos a “Console > Device” y seleccionamos “Create device for network”.
Aquí veremos (si los hay) los dispositivos creados en Cacti hasta ahora.
Para añadir uno nuevo hacemos clic en “Add”.
En esta nueva ventana “Devices [new]” tenemos varios campos a cumplimentar:

Description: Nombre por el que si identifica el Host.

Hostname: FQDN o IP del Host.

Host Template: Template que corresponde al host que estamos configurando.

Notes: Notas adicionales para identificar nuestro host.

Downed Device Detection: Modo de detección del host. En este caso SNMP.

Ping Timeout Value / Ping Retry Count: Tiempo de timeout y reintentos del ping.

SNMP Version: Versión SNMP.

SNMP Community: Comunidad SNMP, por defecto PUBLIC, pero podemos crear comunidades propias.

SNMP Port: Puerto de comunicación de SNMP, por defecto 161.
Una vez hecho esto haremos clic en “create”.
Si todo va bien se mostrará el mensaje “Save Successful”.
Y en ese caso tendremos el nuevo host en la ventana de “Console > Devices”.
